Director, IDC’s Consumer Markets and Broadband Group

Danielle Levitas is the director of IDC's Consumer Markets and Broadband group. She is responsible for defining research initiatives within the services. The Consumer Markets programs track emerging markets and trends in gaming, digital audio, digital television, set-top boxes, TV services, DVD, online consumer behavior, home networking, and more. The Broadband Markets and Technologies program tracks consumer and enterprise broadband adoption by technology. Included in all of these services are global forecasts of the technologies based on unit shipments or subscribers, revenues, and average selling price, as well as extensive vendor analysis on market positioning and segment trends. The group also conducts numerous surveys throughout the year to create a solid foundation for our research.

In 2001, Ms. Levitas launched IDC's Interactive Consumer Services programs, expanding IDC's coverage in gaming and TV research. Prior to joining IDC's Consumer Device and Technologies service in 2000, she was a research manager for IDC's storage service, responsible for conducting research on the worldwide storage market. Since joining IDC's Storage program in 1995, Ms. Levitas focused on the worldwide Winchester disk drive market and its components and in 1998, launched IDC's first U.S. Storage Mechanism end-user survey, which identified market trends for storage in consumer and commercial environments. In 1999, she created IDC's first hard disk drive forecast by consumer application. Ms. Levitas has a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
