Gwong-Yih Lee           

Managing Director and Co-Founder of Lodestone Ventures

 

Mr. Lee is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Lodestone Ventures. Previously, he was a Senior Director of Global Solutions at Cisco Systems.  Previously, he was a Senior Director of Global Solutions at Cisco Systems. 

 

Prior to Cisco Systems, Mr. Lee was Founder and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of TransMedia Communications, Inc., of San Jose, CA.  TransMedia was founded in 1998 and was acquired by Cisco Systems in September of 1999 at a value of approximately $500 million.

 

TransMedia builds innovative products that capitalize on the tremendous opportunities created by the convergence of data, voice, and video.  TransMedia’s reliable multiservice platform can switch and aggregate multimedia traffic across IP/Frame Relay/SONET/ATM based wide area networks.  In 1999, TransMedia was selected as “Best of Breed” startup by the industry’s top venture capitalists.

 

In his previous success, Mr. Lee founded, as President/Chief Executive Officer, Digicom Systems, Inc. in May 1987, a Company devoted to high-speed modem communications applications in both software algorithms and hardware and the first Company implementing single chip DSP V.32bis technologies.  Digicom has developed, manufactured, marketed and supported a full continuing line of high-speed communications products since its inception, e.g. T1/E1 DSU/CSU products & Network Management Systems.  Digicom Systems was purchased 100% outright in November of 1994 by Creative Technology, Ltd. 

 

   Prior to Mr. Lee’s founding Digicom Systems, he held positions of senior engineering management responsibility with Silicon Valley firms including Anderson Jacobson, Racal-Datacom and Cermetek Microelectronics.

 

In education, Mr. Lee received a Bachelor’s degree from National Chiao-Tung University in Taiwan and he is a distinguished member of the NCTU Alumni Association.

 

He came to the United States to attend New York State University receiving a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering in the early 1980’s.

 

In civic affairs, Mr. Lee is an outstanding alumnus and was on the board of the Monte Jade Association, a non-profit organization that promotes the cooperation and mutual flow of technology and investment between Taiwan and the U.S.
